Poor Michelle

"If money is the issue, I wish it wouldn't be," she said. "I don't think money should pick the president."

I feel pretty confident Michelle Bachmann would not have uttered these words if she had the money she does not think should elect the president.  But since she does not shoulder the same heavy campaign purse many of her opponents in Iowa have, of course she would wish money did not elect the president.

She is right.  How deep some candidate's pockets are should not determine the outcome of an election.  But to hear her whine about it makes me chuckle.  The political system in this country has been corrupted by money for years.  Our pols spend more time it seems sucking up to big money than doing the jobs they were elected to do.  Especially the Congress men and women of the House of Representatives, of which Michelle has been a member now for more than a few years.

What is sad I think is that we can tell how a specific campaign is going by how much money they are pulling in or not pulling in.  This is a better barometer than any poll one might try to use.  Like business, money follows success in politics also.  If we don't like this system, then why have we not changed it?  Oh our leaders have wrung their hands and complained about it, but when it comes right down to it, their lack of any meaningful campaign reform indicates they like things just the way they are.  Even more so I suspect with the recent SCOTUS decision defining money as an odd extension of free speech.

So Michelle take your "pity me , I'm poor" party back to Minnesota.  Maybe you should be concentrating on finding enough cash to get your sorry ass reelected to Congress so you can continue to be a waste of space on the taxpayer's dime.

It really is a shame that we'll never again have a man of modest means in the White House. You either have to come from money or be in the pipeline of folks who want you to carry water for them. Abe would be ashamed of what's happened to his Party.

I've got to admit I am taking some enjoyment in hearing social conservatives being so frustrated in the near certainty of Romney winning the nomination. While a few just want to defeat Obama and support Romney because they believe he is the most electable others are delusional in the hopes of having one of the others like Santorium or Newt win because they are "true conservatives."

Several times I have heard different pundits say that with the amount of money Romney has at his disposal from his own accounts and that of score of millionaires helping him no matter what the polls say he has already bought the republican nomination. It will be interesting to see what all these true social conservatives do in November when face with voting for Mitt.

All I can say is that I am not looking forward to the general election this year. The last one was bad enough with constant stream of mud slinging ads on TV and the endless phone calls during dinner (doesn't matter if you're on the do not call list either).

What Beach Bum said. Rommel is next up in the Republican line, from a long line of next in lines. What anyone in the 99% has to say about it doesn't mean sheeeeit.

I don't pay much attention to the primaries, I'm simply not a player in them so the outcome means nothing to me.

In the general election I'll get to vote for the piece of shit of my choice.

You've hit on a really deep subject Crum. Judging how well a candidate is doing, or even their fitness for office, by the money he raises is something the media have been doing for some time. The apple is rotten to the core.

Being #1 in the polls of the Regressive Party is like being #2 in al-Qaeda. Sooner or later you get taken down!!
