Okay. The ice has finally been broken ....... again. When I step back from this blog, it is always because something is not right , something is askew, Life is too uneven, too off keel for me.
I withdraw, retire to the internal sanctuary I created as a child when family dysfunctions became too much; too ugly; too dark. My remedies were many; marathon reading and hours spent creating my own worlds. Staying outside until hunger or the dark forced me back in the house. Building a wall with childhood diversions, dreams, and what ifs until my anger or fear of the current family upheaval dissipated.
Beginning to write again is a sign another dark corner has been successfully turned. The dark corner returns to idle mode and patiently waits for me to face it again. The corner is not concerned if I will face it again. It knows I will always come up against it again; I always have. A kind of Yin and Yang cycle I guess. ............ There needs to be balance. It is a constant struggle.
Keep it 'tween the ditches ..........................................

Recent only? I think it has been crappy since Ronnie in the 80s. Arguably, though, you are right….. it may be worse now, but the 80s were pretty damn bad.
PipeTobacco
Kulkiri - They have been grinding on me for years. When it becomes too much, I leave the scene, recuperate, and come back into the fray.
Pipe Tobacco - The 1950s were damn bad. The 1960s were damn bad. The 70s, the 80s, the 90s ; Hell, the whole 20th century was filled with bad, but not the wholesale bad that has been in play since Trump and the Right went totally insane in recent years. It amazes me anyone would want to return to any of the so called "Good Times" of their youth. If someone is living the good life, it stands to reason 10 people aren't.
I may have rose colored glasses, but the 70s seemed pretty ok.
Pipe Tobacco - Look at any decade hard enough, there is hate and discontent to be found wherever one looks. We need rose colored glasses on occasion just to keep us sane in the moment of shit we might find ourselves in any current moment.
The 1970s were great for me also. But for us as a nation, it wasn't so great IMO. Watergate, Vietnam still killing people, Iranian revolution, Olympics massacre.
What I do think though is that all the negativity of the last 75 years may seem no big deal once Trump and the clowns he sucks up too have their way. I have never seen as broad assault on the whole nation like what is happening now.
True. All you said is indeed logical.
