The beaters were off to his left. Their drums did not worry him; they warned him.
Fires they touched off scared him though. Fire was so unpredictable.
His tail flicked.
He had figured it out. Today, they would pay for her death and the litter she carried.
Today, some of them would become prey.
This prompt lead me to the Indian Tiger hunt movies and Tarzan jungle movies of my youth. The movies championed men who hunted for sport and took unfounded pride in their trophy kills. When I was a kid, I rooted for the tiger, the lion, Hell, pretty much any beast they found in their scopes.

I remembered a song I thought would be a good fit with this post. It is a classic folk tune from Africa. No, it is not a Tiger song, it is a Lion song; still a big cat song carrying similar concerns.
The first version I heard long before The Beachboys made it hit in the mid 1960s, was on the first LP I ever bought with my own money. "The Kingston Trio from the Hungy I". As it turns out, this particular song is one of the most covered tunes on the planet; especially for A Capella groups. Pleases enjoy this version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", performed by one young woman who records it in 4 and 5 different takes, Very clever and well done ...... Enjoy.

Hey Mike:
It has been a helluva long time since I have been here! I had an issue…. the idiot I am….. going home after going to the doctor for some medicine for a respiratory bug back in I think perhaps mid October…. I stupidly put my damn phone ON TOP of my car and drove away. 1/4 mile later I heard it rattle off onto the street. Before I could get back to it, a damnable car had ran over it! To make matters worse, my phone had not been backed up in a long time so I lost damn near all my contacts and bookmarks.
I had been struggling to get most things back in order since. It took me a bit of digging to find your blog again. Finally I did.
I wanted to let you know why I was away. I have glanced through a couple of the missed posts, but will look more deeply when I can be on more.
I did notice the photo on your 01/05 post….. your pipe looks like a regular sized TOBACCO pipe, much like all the ones I have. But I am assuming you are using it for a greener leaf since you stopped tobacco. That is far bigger than I have seen for what most folks seem to use for the greener leaf, is it not? If I ever get to try the greener leaf, been thinking about it, if I ever do, I am thinking that may be what I will do… use one of my tobacco pipes. I would like my first foray into it to be worthwhile!
PipeTobacco
It has been a long time. I am no better. I have not visited you for quite awhile. As to your bug, seems like you have it on the run now. I have had some health issues this past couple of years also. Sucks getting old.
The pipe from the Jan 5 post is not quite full size. It is in between the the smaller Hash pipe styles and the full size tobacco pipes. One reason pot pipes tend to be smaller now is pot is so much more powerful than the pot I smoked in the 1960s. You should see the pipe I use to smoke pot in. If I can find it, I will post a pic sometime. It is a monster sized corn cob. It was my second pipe. My first one committed suicide when it got bounced out of the back of a pick up I was riding in. I had just re-filled it with the last of the pot I had at the time.
One hint if you decide to imbibe in some cannabis. Don't use a tobacco pipe. Buy a cheap pipe, put a screen in it and then smoke. Pot will possibly ruin th etaste you get from one of your tobacco pipes and vice a versa. Pot tastes terrible when its essence combines with tobaaco in my opinion. Of course in Europe and the Middle East, many of those folks don't know how to smoke pot or hash. They mix tobaaco with their cannabis or hash...... Yuck!
My opinion- take it for what's it worth.
