Dying

He wondered why here.  Why now.
He knew it didn't matter.
He puzzled over it anyway
As his life's blood trickled down rock faces

Crumpled and twisted oddly,
he could only see one tree
Off in the distance as a bird floated by
Any moment he was sure
His life would also wander by

He thought it might be getting dark
Even though the sun rode high in the skies

His breathing slowed down

And he closed his eyes

What had once been a full life
Was now but an empty dream

Mike....you certainly are branching out. Well done, mate. I'm no expert on poetry, far from it in fact, but that seemed a pretty cool effort. Nice one!

Mike:

It was nice to hear from you on my site! Actually, you will be happy to hear that my wife and I *both* bought new bicycles this Summer. I have been biking to the U 2-3 times a week to add to my exercise beyond my walking.

I also bought a trailer hitch and a bike carrier for the bikes with the hope that my wife and I will try to go biking along trails and other bike paths in various regions of the state. I have been lax in putting the hitch on my vehicle (having had the hitch for three weeks), but hope to get it on my vehicle prior to Labor Day.

I too thought your poetry was very good... albeit sad. Your prior post on the annoyances of the political system was dead on. I cannot watch news on television anymore because all forms of it are filled with hyperbole and nonsense. Even my NPR news is going more in that route which annoys the hell out of me too. I believe I may have to obtain all my news from the New York Times... there is depth there, and I can ignore hyperbole and b*llsh*t more easily on the written page.
