Low Key Resistance

Okay so the title is political in nature.  So sue me.

Seems we all need to be more attentive.  I had obviously become complacent and satisfied that while the Planet was in a world of shit, right here in America, we were stumbling in the right direction.  Seems we have been poleaxed back some recently, what with the ascension to the throne of the 45th President of the USA.  All I will say is, he is a joke, but what he is trying to pull is definitely no joke.  Millions of critical eyes need to be on the lookout.

But ..........

That is not why I came here today.  It is so damn easy for me to get side tracked from that early morning clear as a bell thoughtful idea for a post to the 4 hours later here and now.  A lot happens in 4 hours in my world you know.  Coffee to make, cats to yell at as I clean up their daily leavings in and out of the litter tray.  Then there is the gazing out the window into my afternoon future that will surely create more wasted sound waves of fussing about blowing snow without a cab around me or how those plow guys just love to plow me in. ............ Bastards.

All that aside, my original thoughts were about the current hip go to word for the pinko liberal commie socialistic losers who won't stop whining and get on the bus driven by a crazy man.

RESIST!  ............If there is any time I feel proud to be hanging out Left of Center, it is now.  You Pinkos rock.

My first conscious act of resistance was after I smoked that first joint in 1965 or so.  I knew within the first minute of those rushes and giggles, the law against Nature's best herb was absurd.  At least it was absurd in my 13 year old mind, given what my reaction was to my first over indulgence of alcohol.  That was not a pretty picture, me being drunk, on my knees and puking up vodka taken straight from the bottle.  If Alcohol was legal, then the Doob should be too.

One conscious act of resistance led to another when I found myself marching against the Vietnam War.  And then it became easier for me to smell something wrong in Denmark and I made low key resistance an integral part of my life.  Where I saw Absurd rules, I broke them when possible.

If a rule makes no sense, then do what you can to change it.  A first step has always been to break that rule.  Seems it was a logical place to start.  Of course one soon realizes there is a cost to breaking rules.  I learned early on.  But I have no regrets.  50 plus years of living a slightly less stressful state of consciousness has been well worth the wrist slaps I dealt with back in the day.

They can make something illegal.  But it won't do them any good if enough folks ignore it.

My first feeling on Trumps election was 'fuck it. I'm old so let the world go to hell in a pack basket - they will get what they voted for.
After reflection I can't just ignore it. I have lived through the good and bad in this country but this is the all time low of my lifetime. I have to speak up - and legalized week can help the pain.
by the way Jeff Sessions is anti-weed and now he is the chief law enforcement officer. Sux

Ol'Buzzard - I relish a confrontation with Sessions over weed. Now is the time to embrace resistance to stupidity wherever it may pop up.

Unless I am mistaken, isn't the green leaf perfectly legal now in Maine? Has something changed in that regard? I was thinking I might get my first sample of the stuff as I may be in Maine at a conference this Summer.

Pipe Tobacco - Pot was voted in last election. My point about its use for me was it was my first act of conscious rebellion creating my tendency to resist absurdity in all its forms.

Mike:

Yes, I understood the rebellion aspect of your essay. I was just curious about if the legalization was in trouble.

My first experience with weed was it was just a funny tasting cigarette. It took several tries before I had some that was stronger than ditchweed and had any affect on me.

Agree, weed should be legal and regulated like alcohol. Wish the VA would approve weed, altho they are running some studies on using it to treat PTSD.

We need to hold the politicians feet to the fire, let them know we won't put up with their shit anymore. Either they do our bidding (not the rich fucks like the Koch brothers) or be prepared to be replaced!!

Pipe Tobacco - There was some issues concerning the results. It passed with a slim majority. The opponents demanded, as was their right, a recount. The recount began and once enough votes had been recounted and the only change was in favor by a few votes, it ended. The referendum became law Jan 7 I think. There is no legal set up for retail sales yet, but consumption and personal grows are legal.

JACKIESUE - Your point is taken. Any resistance I get involved in now is for the kids, whether they appreciate it or not. But then, I do love a good resistance effort. That ladies march made me grin from ear to ear.

Kulkiri - Trump may end up being one of the best things to happen to this country in years. Not because he will make us great again. That's a bunch of prime time bullshit. But his existence in a position of power is lining up folks on both sides of the aisle against him and his dangerous policies.

Hmm... It is Friday evening and I am feeling a bit tipsy from some pleasant liquid refreshment as, so of course my thought turn to the green leaf again. If you feel so inspired Mike, consider giving me a comparison of what it is like to indulge in the green leaf compared to what I know about alcohol? Alcohols as an indulgence is all I am familiar with, if you exclude the minor, gentle massaging of neurons through my beloved pipe tobacco. Is the impact like I have constantly imagined for the green leaff like that of a deeply satisfying drunk, but without the next morning hangover? That is always what I have imagined, but no one has ever described the potential beauty of green leaf intoxication for me in a way I can grapple with. I would relish hearing your perceptions of its potentially beautiful ways.

I was also reading that in both California and Maine that shops for folks who want marijuana recreationally will not be available until 2018. That makes me damn sad as I have found meetings I could attend in both states this Summer where I had hoped I could quench my curiosity. But it appears to not be the case this year. It makes me damn sad and disgruntled. But I have waited this long to sample the stuff, that I guess it is just par for the damn course. I remember reading that Willie Nelson found marijuana gave him enough benefit that he willingly gave up both alcohol and tobacco in favor of marijuana. That makes me think the green leaf must be utterly profound, as moving away from alcohol and pipe tobacco seems unbelievable to do unless I were to use sheer will and gumption, which I in. Damn short supply of it seems.

I meant I appear to be in damn short supply of gumption or drive to get rid of pipe tobacco and I haven't considered alcohol at all yet.
