Post a Day for a Month

Earlier this year, I wasn't sure if I was going to have the interest in blogging that I once had.  Fads come and go.  Since I started blogging in 2004, my efforts have been erratic to say the least.  And this time I had lost a couple of years there and getting back on the horse did not hold much appeal.  But then that itch, that urge, that ever present inclination to put words to proverbial paper was again nagging me to no end.

"Alright, alright.  Give it break ferchrisakes," I said to myself.  "If it will shut you up, I'll start writing again.......... But don't expect much."

The internal nag sat down and shut up.  But I know he is watching me to see if I will keep my word.  He's been disappointed before.

Because of my life long infatuation with creating and reading my own words, I have notebooks and scraps of scrawl stashed here and there around my house.  I am not squirreling them away like some randomly planted nut.  I just seem to find these scraps and notebooks in the oddest places.  Like I set the journal down and walked away, never to give it another thought until such time while looking for something else, I stumble on them, get distracted by them, and forget what the Hell I was looking for in the first place.

Regardless and anyhow, the point here today is I was looking through some of my old posts and found the ones I wrote when meeting a post a day challenge back a few years.  Hey great.  I think I will give it whirl again.  See if I can post every day for the month of April.  Because practice may not make perfect, but it heads one in the right direction.  And a daily routine just might be the kick in the ass I need.

Keep it 'tween the ditches .......................................

For those of us who were not privileged to read your words of wisdom originally it will be a treat to be entertained by some of your earlier works. I deleted the first 4 years of my blog because I looked it over and decided it was crap. Since I started back in again I am much happier with my posts. I sincerely hope you continue to write because I enjoy your views. don't always agree but I like hearing opposing viewpoints well presented. You have a great blog please keep up the good work. Your fan, me

mohaverat - the wisdom of my words? Hmm. I think I am just another fool doing his best to understand what the Hell is going on around him. But I appreciate the kind words. As to re-publishing old posts, I shy away from that. First and foremost, I use my blog to work on my writing skills such as they are. So my one rule I have pretty much adhered to is every post published is a new one. I mean, because I have an opinion on everything under the sun or will have at the drop of a hat, there is plenty of nonsense swirling around in my data banks for me to pick out something new.

Pipe Tobacco - I'm glad you like them. I often don't. But there they are some good, some bad. Writing regularly does not ensure more insight or quality. Writing regularly does dump some of the bytes accumulating and make room for new nonsense on my hard drive.

Ol'Buzzard - Well, I was very pleased that you were still at it. That definitely helped me in deciding that my time as a blogger was not over yet.

I've been trying to do two posts a week. In the beginning (2005) we posted everyday for a YEAR! It's been more than a decade of posts now, and we're just happy to have this online blogging journal to refresh our aging memories. We often check back on old posts to see what we did and when. I hope you keep blogging for a long time. Good luck with 30 days. I'll check back in.
